Drinking Water Analysis
Private well, untreated tap
Sample ID 26-04417
Collected 09/14/2026

Sample data for illustration. Limits are EPA standards for public water, the usual yardstick for private wells.

About 43 million Americans drink from a private well. No utility tests that water, and USGS sampling found about 1 in 5 wells had a contaminant at a level of potential health concern.

    How it works

Built for the moment the envelope from the lab arrives and none of it makes sense.

    1. Upload your report

A PDF from the lab, or a phone photo of the page. Any state certified lab works.

    2. Read it in plain English

Each result is checked against EPA limits and explained: what it is, whether it matters, and what to do about it.

    3. Never miss a test

Yearly reminders for bacteria and nitrate, and a nudge to retest after floods, well repairs or a new baby in the house.

What we will and won't do

Water advice is full of people selling filters. We aren't one of them.

    • Explain, not sellNo filter or treatment sales pitch. When treatment helps, we tell you what type to look for.
    • Never call your water “safe”We compare results with official limits. Real problems go straight to your local health department.
    • Your results stay yoursNever sold or shared. Delete your data whenever you like.
    • Any lab, no lock inUse the lab you already trust. We don't run a lab or sell test kits.
“I’ve spent twelve years working with water data, and a PhD on water information systems. The science on well water is clear. The paperwork people get back from the lab isn't. WellDecoded is the plain-English translation I'd want for my own family.”
